my sketchbook: journaling with new pens

Black & white markers first. Then color.

No fear because it’s an inexpensive art journal.

I was gifted a huge set of Sharpies for Christmas (thank you Wes!) and couldn’t wait to play. Beginning a page in black and white makes me feel like a kid again because after that the coloring begins. Such a relaxing, meditative activity at the end of the day.

Reminds me of getting a brand new coloring book and a (large) box of Crayolas – remember that?

Next, this week’s agenda in pictures (I’m kinda liking this art journal thing)
Posted in my sketchbook.

  1. Hmmm a weeks agenda in images seems like a good idea for a journal prompt, I love your posts Lori, I always come away inspired.

  2. Hey Lori, I always look forward to your sketches and I love the journal idea. Is that a canvas tote in the works? Very pretty. Now if I could just BE artistic.
Im hoping to use your tutorial to make a few of these journals as happies for some nieces and nephews this year.

    Have a good week

  3. I’m almost ‘so envious’ 🙂 of your drawing talents ———- so admire what you create and I love the alphas and I love how you put the flower through them like you did and then the fun part colouring. What a beautiful journal this is going to be Lori – well it already is! Yes I do remember getting coloured pencils and colouring books as a kid and I loved it too – but I never had vision to change things from what they were meant to be – a tree always had to be green, a cloud always had to be white, and the sky always had to be blue —-
